A dark comedy in one act.  1 M / 2 F

When one moment in your life captures the nation’s attention, what happens when the reporters are long-gone, and the cameras have moved on to the next story?

Above the Fold tells the tales of people who were on the periphery of these events- The stylist hired to prepare a woman in a persistent vegetative state for her TV debut, the pizza parlor co-workers of a high school shooter, the woman who lost a plastic surgery beauty pageant, and a boy who never went public about his encounter with a pop star known for his bizarre behavior.

"Has our love of grotesquiana overwhelmed our sense and our shame? Is this, in fact, a self-feeding monster? In a way, it must be. We, as an audience, are fascinated by these situations, by these extremes of human behavior. Yet it is a fascination with the grotesque that causes them. Isn't it? That these vignettes bring these questions to mind is indicative of the success of Mr. Payne's endeavor."
